This Organization Helps Those with SMA AND Holds Cool Concerts

Adyn’s Dream is a charity in Athens, Ohio.

The organization provides live events that benefit families and their children that have received a diagnosis of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).

The founder of Adyn’s Dream is Adyn herself, who was diagnosed at 18 months old.

Although she was diagnosed way back in 2005, the nonprofit did not begin until 2014. Adyn’s father Brian Bucher is the executive director of the nonprofit. Meanwhile, Adyn is in charge of deciding who will be the performers at each event.

Also, she has total control over all the music at every event. Each year, the nonprofit aims to put on 4-6 shows. Every show is completely run by volunteers.

Each dollar from the events goes straight to Adyn’s Dream which helps those with SMA.

This time, the organization held an evening concert at the Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial. Adyn’s Dream collaborated with an art organization called Guardian Aliens. Together they created a Kid’s Art Carnival that was held before the main concert.

At noon on February 11th 2017, The Judy Chops performed a live and interactive set for children and their families. The Judy Chops was formed from bluegrass but now they are known for their “modern vintage” and “signature American styles.”

Later, Pokey LaFarge, a folk and roots musician, played at the main concert. They picked these bands because of their high energy music. They wanted everyone to have a good time while also donating to this special cause.
