Maria Menounos’s talent has graced the TV screen, American journalism and occasionally, the world of professional wrestling. With WWE, she serves as a hardcore ambassador to the company. She’s a natural born leader and fighter and now, she’s fighting for her health.
Menounos underwent a serious surgery to remove a golf ball sized brain tumor. When asked about her poor health, she blamed it on the constant bullying and negativity surrounding the entertainment industry. She was asked what the source of her stress was and she replied with “the industry.”
It’s a tough gig being in the entertainment industry, especially when you’re under the and your appearance and actions are judged on a daily basis.
Menounos spoke to Access Hollywood about her experience.
“I think that there’s a lot of bullying, a lot of toxicity. I think it’s just a rough journey,” she said. “You know, there’s the glitz and the glam that everybody sees — and yes, I feel incredibly blessed to be a part of it — but there have been some tough times.”
Chronic stress directly affects the body and with the toxicity of the industry, Menounos feels just that. Cancer runs in the Menounos family. Maria’s mother also has stage-four brain cancer.

On her 39th birthday, she had to undergo the complex surgery that removed 99.9 percent of the benign tumor. Since then, Menounos has had time to reflect on her experience thus far and is thankful to be on the road to recovery.
