Mother Fights To Extend Life Of Her Terminal 19-Year-Old Son

A severely aggressive brain tumor in 19-year-old Callum Hardyman has forced his brain to turn sideways, reported The Sun. Callum suffers from a terminal brain cancer called glioblastoma. To learn more about this rare form of cancer, click here.

The cancer is at stage four and Callum has been told that it will take his life. His mother, Tricia, is doing everything in her power to extend his life and make him feel more comfortable as the end nears, while Callum prefers not to know how long he has left. He was only diagnosed last year and has undergone an intense surgery to remove the tumor, but surgeons could only successfully remove 75% of it.

The cancer is being referred to as The Terminator for its intensity. Callum was first diagnosed in October of 2017, just a few months ago and the cancer has already rapidly taken its toll. The diagnosis started with Callum experiencing severe headaches, and a visit to the doctor eventually led to the root of the problem. It took a full week of tests, finally ending with a CT scan that revealed the tumor. Doctors initially thought it could be a migraine, but it only intensified over the week and he became super sensitive to light. Doctors quickly put him on oxygen thinking he could be suffering from cluster headaches. When they realized that wasn’t helping, a CAT scan was the next step, and this is what gave them the dreaded diagnosis.

Callum’s mother constantly praises how great of a young man he is. He’s always done everything right. He is a good student, having worked hard and going to college. He was working towards becoming an engineer. He’s also an artist who has used that to help cope with the current situation. He’s an amazing person and it all makes it even harder that her son has to go through such a difficult time and will most likely have to face an early death.

For now, Callum faces consistent treatment of radiotherapy and chemo to prolong his life. His mother continues to raise money with hopes that an experimental trial will come about and prolong his life further, or even cure him of it all.
