Cushing’s disease is a rare disease that appears as the result of prolonged cortisol exposure. It is a frequent trigger of Cushing’s syndrome. Cushing’s disease is caused by abnormalities that cause the body to release more cortisol than usual, such as a tumor affecting the pituitary or adrenal glands. Juliana underwent the procedure last January in Maryland, but some issues arose and her life hung in the balance. She swallowed some blood, which caused pneumonia. As a result, she was placed into a medically induced coma for two weeks. Kennie, her mother, said that the family played music for her everyday as she was in the comatose state.
While her recovery ultimately took months, Juliana is feeling much better and is now back home and has begun to develop a new interest in music:
