Got Cystic Fibrosis? Got Stress? Sign Up for This Event Today

On September 28th, 2017 at 9 PM EST, a new online, mindfulness-based, stress reduction course will be given by none other than the extraordinary Julie Desch, MD. She is a physician with cystic fibrosis, trained at the University of Nebraska and Stanford University.

She writes a great blog called Sick and Happy. It reminds me that while we all have stress, those with cystic fibrosis, according to the large scale TIDES study, are two to three times more likely to suffer anxiety and depression while dealing with this time consuming and physically demanding condition. As an adult with CF, Julie knows how stress can lead to the twin thieves (depression and anxiety), stealing your health and your joy.

With this upcoming course, folks with CF can safely get together online. Who wouldn’t benefit from being led by Julie, who in addition to being a patient/physician, is also a certified personal trainer and a licensed wellness coach?!

This program is sponsored by Cystic Fibrosis Research Inc., a 4-star non profit organization. This class is intended for both those with cystic fibrosis and family members. Patients may take the 8-week course for free. The cost for loved ones is only $50. This program is being supported by both Vertex Pharmaceuticals and Genentech.
